A conversion to Electric from a Cliff Charlesworth Plan
A fellow modeller suggested that I should convert a “Junior” to electric flight
for those evenings when I don’t have time to lay a bungee out but want a bash on
the sticks. Thinking this would be a good idea, I made some enquiries with a
specialist “electric” shop where I buy most of my electric gear from and decided
it was worth a go. The motor suggested is a brushless outrunner (Suppo
A22-12-10) with a 20 Amp speed controller (HiModel FLY-20A) turning a 7x4
folding prop all powered under a 3S LiPo.
The nose has been lengthened by about 20mm and shaped, downthrust and side
thrust have been built in.
The wing is nearing completion, just the leading edge and tips to add.
I have kept the same wing section as per the plan (Eppler 139) but have extended
the wing by 10" and will be using simplified tips.
The fuselage is nearly ready for covering.
I have added a hatch to the bottom of the fuselage on which I intend to
mount the LiPo enabling the battery to be changed without the need to remove the
wing.
The control run's are in (Sullivans), fin/rudder and tail/elevators mounted.
The fuselage has now been completed!!!
